Choosing a venue has been, in part, why we have waited so long to tie the knot! We toured numerous locations in the Phoenix valley… some of which were on the short list. We just didn’t have that “ah ha” moment. When we visited Jeff’s parents’ home over Christmas break 2017, everything changed.
The Perfect “Yes” Before the Wedding: Finding Our Dream Venue
For us, choosing a wedding venue wasn’t just another item on the checklist—it was the one decision that kept us waiting to say “I do.” We toured venue after venue throughout the Phoenix Valley, from rustic barns to desert gardens, and while several made the short list, none of them felt quite right. We were holding out for that undeniable moment—the one where you step onto a property and just know.
That moment finally came, and it was far from where we started looking.
A Hilltop Surprise
Over Christmas break in 2017, we were visiting Jeff’s parents at their home in Bellevue, Kentucky. Their house sits on top of a hill with a panoramic view of downtown Cincinnati that looks like it belongs on a postcard. One quiet evening, as we stood outside gazing at the sparkling skyline, something clicked.
At first, we hesitated. Would Jeff’s parents even go for it? Was this idea just a fleeting thought wrapped in holiday glow?
But the moment we mentioned it, they lit up with excitement. Their support and enthusiasm were overwhelming in the best way. What started as a hopeful “what if” quickly turned into the beginning of something very real—and very special.
Hitched on Hagner Hill
With their blessing (and a hilltop view dreams are made of), we’re officially planning to tie the knot at Jeff’s family home, now lovingly dubbed Hagner Hill. It’s more than a venue—it’s a place filled with family, memories, and the kind of love that feels like the perfect foundation for the next chapter of our lives.
We’re deep into planning mode, and every idea we dream up feels more meaningful knowing it will unfold in a place so close to our hearts. From twinkle lights in the trees to a skyline backdrop for our vows, we can’t wait to transform this beautiful hill into our wedding wonderland.
