In Cincinnati, Labor Day weekend isn’t just a long weekend—it’s a full-blown celebration, capped off by the legendary Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks Show. For decades, this dazzling display has marked the unofficial end of summer, lighting up the skyline with one of the largest fireworks shows in the Midwest.
NOTE: there may be some traffic congestion and/or some street closures down by the river (both sides), so please plan accordingly for Sunday’s event.
At just past 9:00 PM, the sky over the Ohio River comes alive with color, light, and thunderous sound, all synchronized to music broadcast on WEBN 102.7FM. The fireworks are launched from massive barges floating in the river and are expertly choreographed by Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks—a name synonymous with world-class pyrotechnics. The show runs about 30 unforgettable minutes, and every second is a testament to the artistry and energy of Cincinnati’s favorite tradition.
A Hagner Hill Tradition
For Jeff’s parents, Phil and Mary, Labor Day is also about community and connection. Every year, they open their hilltop home to friends, neighbors, and members of their church to enjoy a front-row seat to the fireworks—minus the crowds and chaos of downtown.
This year, that beloved tradition continues—with a special twist.
Weddings & Fireworks: A Perfect Pairing
We’ve timed the wedding celebration so that Jeff’s parents can enjoy both the big day and their annual fireworks gathering. After dinner, we’re excited to merge the two events into one joyful, unforgettable evening.
So if you notice some new faces arriving at the reception later in the evening—people you didn’t see at the ceremony—now you know why! They’re part of the extended Hagner Hill fireworks tradition, and we’d love for you to say hello and celebrate together.
After all, what better way to end the night than with love, laughter, and fireworks over the skyline?
THIS is SO awesome! My tears are welling up again. I love it…” feel free to say hello”…it sounds like you two are THE BEST!
